Happy Valentine's Day!!

We have been incorporating Valentine's Day into our Under the Sea theme this week! The children made tissue paper hearts to decorate the center with yesterday and have been busy making Valentines today. They each made a heart valentine for someone special and a whale valentine for their parents!! And of course, they each made a Valentine's bag for collecting their valentine messages from each other.
What a fun holiday!!

Farm Safety

We discussed the Farm a few weeks ago, but we were fortunate to have an opportunity to bring in a young lady from Farm Safety 4 Just Kids this past week. She did a great job talking to the children about the animals on the farm, what they do when they are getting angry or scared, and how to stay safe around them. If you are looking for a good presentation for your group of youngsters, I can send you her information!

Happy 1st Birthday!!

We celebrated Libby's 1st birthday with jello! A nice switch from all the sweets we have had lately.
She is definitely ready to transition out of "babyhood". Happy Birthday!!!

Zoo Train

This week is our final week talking about zoo animals. The children have worked hard coloring different animals they might find at the zoo. To showcase our African animals, we put them on a train! The children just LOVED making these and cannot wait to take them home!

They are now hanging from the doorways and the ceiling!

Today we colored some more animals and painted snakes! We just talked about animals that live in the rain forest.

Monkeyin' Around

This week has been full of wild animals as we talk about the Zoo! The children love talking about the different types of animals, where they are from, and what they eat. We are also learning how to sign different animal names. So far we have learned monkey, elephant, cat, dog, bear, and alligator.

Monkey Masks

We are also excited to be celebrating a birthday today!!! Happy 4th Birthday Quinn!! What is difficult to believe is that many of our kids that are turning FOUR this year have been in our care since they were a few months old! They are just growing up right before our eyes!

Somedays It Feels Like a Farm Around Here!

This week's topic is Farm. We have been discussing the different types of animals that live on a farm, what those animals provide us (e.g., eggs, milk, ect...), and the many jobs that a farmer has. This is always a fun topic for the children. There is something miraculous about a farm to 3-year-olds! I just wish we had a farm to take them all to! The one piece of information that they are all the most excited about is that cows chew their cud. It is amazing (and gross) to them that this occurs! They bring it up regularly while we are eating lunch or snack! =)

The children made their own farm matching games this week and colored and made farm animals. They also have enjoyed singing all the farm classics such as Farmer in the Dell, Old McDonald, and Six Little Ducks.
