Summertime!!

Summer is officially here! The children enjoyed talking about summer last week and doing FUN summer activities with Miss Sarah and our sub, Miss Annette. The children made ice cream, painted rocks they found outside, made wands for a parade, and went to the wading pool!!! Very fun summer activities!!

This week's theme is 4th of July!! We are talking about America's birthday, fireworks, the US flag, parades, and BBQs! The next 2 weeks will be a huge hit with the children as we learn about dinosaurs!!!!

Fun in the Sprinkler!!

Last Friday we were finally able to get the sprinkler out! We have had so much rain that a sprinkler has not been needed! Most of the children LOVED the water. Others were a bit more timid.

Getting ready....

We love buckets & watering cans!!

The yard got quite wet!!!

Insect Week

Last week was Insect Week! We covered a lot of different types of insects and also talked a little bit about spiders. The children learned that insects have 3 sections to their bodies & 6 legs. We also talked about different eyes, antennas, legs, and wings. The highlight of the week had to be the discovery of a spider in the backyard. For educational purposes only, I caught the spider in a clear container so the children could hold and look at the spider closely. They LOVED it! We also had fun making butterflies out of tissue paper and by painting the kids' feet. They also got to be creative and make their own insect. Here are a few creations:

Fun in the Sand!!

We found a turtle sandbox at a garage sale and finally were able to fill it with sand. The kids LOVED it! Now if we can just teach them how to keep the sand IN the turtle!!
